Objectives Of Research

01

To assess the status and identify the barriers and challenges of implementing inclusive education and equitable practices in Nepalese schools.

To investigate the potential benefits and outcomes of incorporating open courses in the Nepalese education system and analyze successful initiatives of open courses to promote inclusive education and equitable practices.

To examine strategies for integrating open courses into Nepal’s existing education system and understand the perspectives of students, teachers, and parents on the impact of these courses on inclusive education and equitable practices.

To understand the activities of school leaders working to solve local issues of equity and inclusion in their schools and to examine the use of ICT tools and techniques for increasing equity and inclusion in schools.

Collaboration Partners

Center for Education and Human Resource Devlopment (CEHRD), Ministry of Education)

Our Collaboration: Building  Customized training manual (TPD Framework), training guide and trainers guide for 7 (5+2) days package. 

Mandate of CEHRD: The Ministry of Education oversees CEHRD, which focuses on human resource development in the field of education. Its goal is to improve the abilities of administrators and teachers.

Building Capacity: In order to raise the professional competency of educators, CEHRD offers training courses and workshops.

Curriculum Creation: In order to ensure that educational curriculum are current and adaptable to changing societal norms, the center works in partnership with the Ministry to improve and reinvent them.

Investigation and Protest: By conducting research and promoting evidence-based policy, CEHRD helps the education sector make well-informed decisions.

Collaborations: Developed a (5+2) 7 days customized training package for the teachers in the CEHRD’s training model. This will be used by the Educational Training Centers and the Local governments for the training of the teachers in their respective areas throughout the country.

 

Continuing and Professional Education Programs (CPEP) ,School of Education, KU

Our Collaboration: Restructuring project developed material into 3 Credit equivalent course which runs in credit accumulation format by the partner.

Continuing and Professional Education Programs (CPEP) is a type of Continuing Education (CE) that provides individual and group-based activities, such as short courses, workshops, webinars, seminars, research, tools, and materials. These activities are designed to enhance the quality of education from early childhood to university level. CPEP is also a community partnership program of KU and a trans-disciplinary program of Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED). CPEC awards PGDE and/or Master’s degree through the Credit Accumulation Framework.

Collaborations: CPEC lunched our course in their format as Inclusive Education for School Educators. This course will be a blended mode learning experience with the activities from our course developed.

 

Nepal Open University (NOU)

Our Collaboration: Restructuring project developed course material into 3 Credit equivalent course and verbal agreement in using the materials in different similar courses in the university.

Nepal Open University is established by an act of parliament in 2073 B.S. (2016) by the government of Nepal with Act No 3, 2073 approved date 2073. 03.30 B.S. This is the premier Open University in Nepal with equal in legal status to other universities in the country.

The purpose of establishment of the university is to expand the access of higher education to mass people who are unreached to conventional higher/tertiary education. The university therefore now is striving to make programmes that are inclusive and relevant to the national needs of creating knowledge society and preparing youth for world of work in Nepal and equally competent for the global market. By utilizing the cutting edge information and communication technology, NOU is going to run program in distance online learning mode.


Education Training Center (ETC), Bagmati Province

Our Collaboration: Using the  Customized training manual (TPD Framework), training guide and trainers guide for 7 (5+2) days package developed by the project team and CEHRD team.

Currently, this training center is conducting training programs related to the professional development of the manpower working in the local level education sector and the principals, teachers and employees working in schools under Bagmati province.

This training center, which has been conducting programs such as teacher professional development (TPD) certification training, leadership capacity development training for principals, teacher refresher training, etc. in thematic and generic terms, also conducts on-site observation, study, monitoring of schools in its service area, and provides technical assistance to teachers.

Writing and Communication Center (WCC )

Our Collaboration: WCC and DLR Lab collaborated in translation and transcription of interviews and the scripts for videos.

Writing and Communication Center (WCC) has been established in the School of Education (KUSOED) with the approval of the Executive council held on l4 Kartik 2079 (14 October 2022).primarily, the Center is expected to operate as a financially consolidated, functional body to help graduate, postgraduate and PhD students present quality theses/dissertations and research outputs.
